I know it’s a bit corny but the advice it gives is still well worth considering. And besides, it always reminds me of the good old days in the late 60's and early 70's when it was very popular and when you often used to hear it on the radio set to music by Les Crane. Tomorrow I'll post the other version of it.

The bottom of the image of Desiderata used here repeats a common misconception about the poem.. It was not discovered in an old church in 1692. Read the story of its origin here:

Thanks for the background. Funny isn’t it, our tendency to think that something said long ago is somehow wiser or better. Things made long ago can however, be, if not better, then certainly more interesting, like the portraits of your grandparents.
That's interesting. I'd never read that before, and when I did, and saw the line at the bottom, my first reaction was, "Huh. That doesn't sound at all like 17th c. language." 1927. It's still quite nice.
You've never heard of the Desiderata before! Goodness, where have you been hiding? Mongolia?
