I imagine that you are referring to the growing number of humans. So our visual experience tells us that their numbers are growing. But according to the Buddha, beings that we can't see (devas, purgatorial beings, etc) can be reborn as humans, and this might explain why there are more humans now than there were before.Shravasti Dhammikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06246408068143301108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1012277645322483593.post-50549963987130406052009-04-07T02:00:00.000-07:002009-04-07T02:00:00.000-07:00Dear Virgin Man,Nirvana is not a 'place' you 'ente...Dear Virgin Man,
Nirvana is not a 'place' you 'enter' and thus cannot be empty, half-full or crowded. It is a state, or perhaps better, a transformative realization. The mind knows, truly knows, something it didn’t know before, and this radically changes how the individual relates to existence and the world. If I struggle to solve a mathematical equation and then suddenly 'see' the answer, that knowledge does not make my mind a little more 'full' in the spatiotemporal sense.Shravasti Dhammikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06246408068143301108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1012277645322483593.post-8642865565296964622009-04-06T13:35:00.000-07:002009-04-06T13:35:00.000-07:00One related question: As living beings exit samsar...One related question: As living beings exit samsara to enter nibbana, the samsara would be less crowded through time. Eventually no one is left in it, isn't it?

The reality showed me otherwise.Virgin Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06278116214836638658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1012277645322483593.post-29376053307778507532009-04-04T16:53:00.000-07:002009-04-04T16:53:00.000-07:00Thank you Ken and VisakhaThank you Ken and VisakhaShravasti Dhammikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06246408068143301108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1012277645322483593.post-23688497259250781832009-04-04T07:33:00.000-07:002009-04-04T07:33:00.000-07:00Thank you Ken and Visakha.Thank you Ken and Visakha.lzbluehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04893059895701603853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1012277645322483593.post-64787566122881818532009-04-04T04:58:00.000-07:002009-04-04T04:58:00.000-07:00The Four Dhamma SummariesThe world is swept away.I...The Four Dhamma Summaries

The world is swept away.
It does not endure.

The world offers no shelter.
There is no one in charge.

The world has nothing of its own.
One has to pass on, leaving everything behind.

The world is insufficient, insatiable,
A slave to craving.
– Majjhima Nikaya 82Ken and Visakhahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16713910044241151429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1012277645322483593.post-60284031937315452102009-04-04T02:54:00.000-07:002009-04-04T02:54:00.000-07:00Bhante,Another insightful article. Can you provide ...Bhante,
Another insightful article.
Can you provide some references to this statement?
"There is, he implied, no 'purpose' or 'meaning' behind samsara"
Thank you :)lzbluehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04893059895701603853noreply@blogger.com
