
“Ananda, it may be that you think; “The Teacher’s instruction have ceased, now we have no teacher!’ But it should not be seen like this. Let the Dhamma and discipline that I have taught you be your teacher after my passing.” Then the Lord said to the monks “Now I declare to you, all conditioned things are of a nature to decay. Strive on with diligence!” These were the Tathagata’s last words (D.II,156).
