A Few Good Books

Plenty of popular books on Buddhism come out nowadays, not all of them necessary very good. But the range and general high quality of academic books published on the subject each year is very impressive. Here are a few titles that have caught my attention, several of which I have been able to acquire.

Glad to see you back on-line, Bhante. I follow your blog regularly and missed your
presence the past few months.

Glad you're safely back.

The blog archives have served us well recently. (Why Jainism survived, but not Buddhism, discussions of vegetarianism, homosexuality and Buddhism, etc. etc. etc.) Great material for our classes.

As always, thank you.

In the Dhamma,
Ken and Visakha

Have you seen After Buddhism by Stephen Batchelor?

Dear Rahula, I have not seen Batchelor’s new book but after the last few I have don’t bother with him any more. I can fully understand when someone does not accept the Buddha’s Dhamma but why one would not accept it but then still want to call oneself a Buddhist bewilders me.
